Baby Schmaby

As you might now, we are expecting a baby in mid november. I will try to keep this blog baby-free, and unleash most of my babytalk in my new baby-wiki. If you don't understand Norwegian, don't bother unless you have a very close (and strange) relationship to some dictionary.

Frappuccino again

I gave the frappuccino another go. I did almost the same as the last time, except I used less milk, added some vanilla icecream and some more icecubes.

The result was better, but still not great.

Must think of something clever.

Smoothie!

I wanted to make smoothies today, so we did. We made Josteins from a recipe, but i didn't like the recipes, so I put what I wanted in the blender and the result was great!

Ingelin's smoothie:
Some fresh pineapple (120 grams maybe)
2 passion fruits
Juice of 1 lime
2 - 3 scoops of vanilla icecream

Put all this into the blender and blend until smooth.
Put some icecubes (I think I used 6) and blend again until smooth.

Tastes wonderful!

Mission (im)possible

My allergies suck, and they make me stay inside. Hence I will be bored by the end of the week, and need something to keep me busy the rest of the summer. Yes, I know I can tidy up and clean and everything as well as watch crap on TV, but I need more!

Ever since I came back from Abu Dhabi I have been longing for a Starbucks Mocha Frappuccino. So my mission for the summer is to make a Mocha Frappuccino that tastes good. I have no ambition of replicating their masterpiece, but I want to make something that will keep me somewhat satisfied until Starbucks enter Norway (if ever).

I tried today, complete faliure. The taste wasn't all bad, but it wasn't nearly as thick as it should be. This is what I did:

Filled a glass with icecubes
Filled the glass (almost) with whole milk
One shot of espresso
Chocolate sauce by taste

Put it all into the blender and.. blended.

Next time I'll use less milk, more ice, more (and better) chocolate sauce and perhaps some cream in addition to the milk. Apparently americans use something they call half and half, which is half milk and half cream. Might try this as well.

Clue

I think it’s time I wrote a blog about Norwegian words that are used too little. I’ll put in the English translation as well as they are quite funny too.

Lømmel – lout, scamp
Slask - scamper, wop
Slabbedask – good-for-nothing fellow, goop
Banditt – bandit, gangster, badman
Røver – robber, pirate
Slappfisk - slacker
Luske - slink, sneak
Lurvete - slummocky
Lurveleven - hubbub, hullabaloo, uproar
Lusekjører - crawler, middle-of-the-road driver
Luring - sneak, sly fox, hangdog, hedger, slyboots, ear bender, egg, gammon, quack
Lurifaks - luring, clever Dick, sly fox, knowing one
Lurendreier - clever Dick, sly fox, (slang:) a knowing one

When I get Clue working again I’ll add more words..

I killed a bird!

My exams are over! Yay! This means: summer vacation! 2 1/2 months is a bit long, but I'll survive...

We went to Oslo for the weekend. The trip started out great. I killed a bird before we passed Arendal. The bird must have been of the stupider kind, it was obviously well aware of the car and did some tiny jumps as it was getting ready to take off. I suspect it ate too much, because the take-off went bad and it ended up on our car. I might have been going a bit too fast.

We arrived at my mothers place around 8:15 pm, had some food and went for a walk. I love Oslo!

Saturday was the Shopping And Eting Day. We shopped, and ate. Breakfast at Bagel & Juice, lunch at T.G.I. Friday's on Aker Brygge (sunny and wonderful) and dinner with friends at San Leando Tapasbar in Vika. After tapas we went to Hard Rock Cafe for drinks. Jostein was watching the bartender fixing his Mojito, probably hoping to learn some fancy drinky-tips. He noticed the enormous amount of mint leaves the bartender put in, and commented: "Wow, you use a lot of leaves!" The bartender smiled, and everyone was happy (Jostein probably also impressed). Then the time came for the rum. Dark rum of course. But then Jostein said: "Oh. Not so much rum..." and I think he was no longer impressed, but the whole bar got a good laugh! The Mojito was very good though. But they are wonderful even without rum. I had sparkling water. Lucky me.

Sunday we walked over Frogner to Vigelandsparken (Frognerparken), then back over Majorstua, Bogstadveien and back to my mothers place. We rested a bit and went for lunch at Burger King (no french fries), rested a bit and went for dinner at La Rosa Magra. We had great Spaghetti ai Frutti di Mare. Went home, rested a bit and went to see the Da Vinci Code at Colosseum. Great movie!

It was quite an expensive weekend...
